Why are Melons like Accountants?

Apparently today is Melon Day (who knew!)

People often look at me a bit strangely when I say I really don't like melon (though I am partial to a retro Midori once in a while). To me, they are bland and watery, but maybe I've just not found the right one.

If you missed my subtle segue, the same could be true about your feelings towards accountants. Bland, boring and not something you really want to bother with.

There are a huge number of accountants out there, each suited to a different type of business owner. Much like the different varieties of melon, you may need to try a few to find one that gets you excited.

Approach finding the right accountant like you would finding the right melon (I may be stretching this analogy a little, but stick with me)

Do they 'smell' right? I don't mean give them a good sniff, but does what they are saying actually speak to you, or do you feel a bit of a mismatch?

How firm are they? As accountants, we have to stick firmly to legislation and standards. If something sounds too good to be true, it generally is. Equally though, when it comes to paperwork and methods of working, there should be some give to fit with your business.

Density!! For this one, we go the opposite way. With melons, you want it to be good and dense. It goes without saying though, make sure you don't pick a dense accountant!

If you'd like to see if we might match, drop me a message (and I promise not to mention melons again!)
